I am a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Information Science and Technologies (ISTI) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and Associate Professor at Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa, Italy.
My research lies at the intersection of artificial intelligence, complex systems, and computational social science, with a particular focus on understanding Human-AI Coevolution, the dynamic and interactive process in which humans and AI algorithms influence each other over time.
A major focus of my work is human mobility, studying how people move through cities and regions and how these patterns shape urban systems.
Current Research Projects
- I lead CAIO: City-AI Coevolution, a five-year (2026-2030), €1.4M FIS Consolidator project funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) under the program Fondo Italiano per la Scienza (FIS). Our team investigates the mechanisms of the human-AI feedback loop within location-based platforms to understand how these technologies shape societal and urban development.
